Summer Meals Matter: WXII News 12 Summer Food Drives

by | Jun 25, 2019 | #feedingfutures, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Second Harvest has teamed up again this summer with WXII News 12 to help fill the summer meal gap!

When kids are out of school for summer, they can’t access the essential nutrients that they get from school meals and many kids– too many kids– are at risk of hunger. What’s more, family-resources are stretched thin during the summer months as families add increased childcare costs and other summer expenses to their budgets. That’s why Second Harvest and WXII work together to bring in additional food and funds to help get families through the long months of summer.

Both food and fund donations will be collected during the drives to help to provide meals for people in need across the 18 county area that Second Harvest serves.

The dates and locations for the food drive are:

June 26: Holy Cross Catholic Church at 616 S. Cherry St., Kernersville, Forsyth County

July 10: Century 21-SmithLove Realty at 625 Main St., King, Stokes County

July 17: Chick-fil-A at 2007 W. US Highway 421, Wilkesboro, Wilkes County

July 24: Jerry Long Family YMCA at 1150 S. Peace Have Rd., Clemmons, Forsyth County

Can’t make it to the food drive? You can give virtually! Create a Virtual Food Drive and invite your friends and family to give here.
