For too many children, when school ends, lunches end.

School is out for summer! But for too many children, when school ends, lunches end.

Across the 18 counties that Second Harvest Food Bank serves, more than half of all school-age children -qualify to receive free or reduced priced meals at school. School lunches, and increasingly breakfasts, have become central and essential to our children’s diets.

But when that final bell rings for summer break, many of these children are at risk of hunger.

Every child deserves to eat. That’s why the staff at Second Harvest is hard at work. Our truck drivers and warehouse staff are moving more food to stock the shelves at our partner grocery assistance programs, knowing that the need increases during the long summer months. Our Providence Community Meals chefs are waking early to get the giant kettle running, cooking healthy meals to deliver to children at summer meals sites.

It’s vital work, made possible by you.

Together, we are serving up meals to children at 32 summer meal sites this summer, and we are ready to supply extra healthy and nutritious food to 460+ on-the-ground partner programs across the 18 counties we serve.

Thank you for #feedingcommunity with us.
